Assignment 1 Blog

About me Jordan Patterson
My name is Jordan Patterson and I am a sophomore at the University of South Alabama. I am from Mobile, Alabama and I attended Baker High School. As a high school student athlete I played basketball, football and baseball. My interests as a person are; hanging out with friends, watching movies and playing sports. I have a family of six and we are very tight knit. I have two brothers that are older than I and a younger sister. The oldest brother, Justin, teaches Math and coaches Football at Saraland High School. My other brother Jarred, who is 23, is a manager at a restaurant in Hattiesburg. My youngest sister, Julianne, is attending Baker High School and plays volleyball. My family is really close and we do everything together. I am attending the University of South Alabama on a baseball scholarship. I grew up in Mobile my whole life, and I never really thought about attending the University. Attending South Alabama was a last second decision for me. My major is Education and secondary History. I think these major best suites me because I have played sports my whole life and I played three sports in high school. I enjoy being active and impacting younger lives. I also love to work with kids and love teaching the game of Baseball. I have several passions but the most important one is excelling in baseball. I have played baseball since I was four years old and I have grown to love the game of Baseball. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. Another passion of mine is going to beach fishing. Randy Pausch: Time Management Video
In this video By Randy Pausch I learned some interesting tips. I learned that it is more important to do the right thing rather than being focused on just completing the task. He also emphasized planning and having your priorities straight and actually having a plan. One thing I really got from this video is that good judgment comes from expertise and bad judgment comes from experience. The video also talks about how planning is done in different stages. He emphasizes to in order to be a good planner that you have to have one first. The video also states to do the hardest things first instead looking at the assignment and never accomplishing anything. I do not have any prior knowledge of Randy Pausch but I am interested in learning more about him.
